About Our Music ProgramThe North Haven Congregational Church music program seeks to use music to enhance the spiritual lives of its members. Through the use of sacred music during worship, as well as through offering a senior choir, youth choir, cherub choir, chime choir and the newly forming praise band, the church offers a variety of ways to bring more music into members' spiritual journeys! Please contact our Music Director, Laura Ouimette [Click To E-Mail] or call the Church Office at 203-239-5691 for additional information. Music During Worship! Our music during a typical Sunday worship service covers a variety of genres, from early Baroque music to gospel and spirituals to modern and contemporary selections by local and international composers. Preludes and postludes are offered on the organ and piano, the choirs offer anthems and choral amens, and special music sung by soloists or offered by youth musicians is usual. Our hymns come from the Pilgrim Hymnal and our new hymnal, Voices United. Starting in January 2008, one Sunday each month will be devoted to using music from the praise and contemporary christian music libraries. Instrumental accompaniment will include bass, guitar and keyboard, and praise choruses will be sung in the place of hymns. For more information on dates and times of these services, or to get involved in the planning and music-making process, please contact our Music Director, Laura Ouimette! Download Schedule The Pierpont Concert SeriesMissionThe Pierpont Concert Series strives to bring a variety of high quality Connecticut musicians to the North Haven community to enhance the artistic and spiritual lives of its residents. History As early as 1670, settlers began building a community in the area we now call North Haven. However, until 1716, they were forced to walk to New Haven if they wanted to attend the only church in the area, now known as Center Church on the Green. In 1714, the Rev. James Pierpont of New Haven left in his will eight to ten acres of land to his northern nieghbors, provided they would set their meeting house on the land. By November of 1716, settlers were no longer foced to trek many miles to attend church, but now had the Ecclesiastical Society of the North Parish of New Haven, today called the North Haven Congregational Church. We honor Rev. Pierpont's generous donation through our concert series, founded in 2003 by music director Kevin L. Mack. Past performers have included the Richmond Consort, Alturas Duo, CONN Artists, Renaissance Revival, Mountain Road, Hartbeat Jazz Ensemble and the Fanfare Consort. The Music Calendar
